The dedicated team at Carmel Church managed to serve an incredible 146 packed lunches to local school children in Hadfield, Padfield and Tintwistle over the half-term holiday. 

Padfield borough councillor Ollie Cross said it was a pleasure to help Angie Dickinson and his fiancée Gill Cox make the lunch packs at the church on Station Road in Hadfield last week. 

The packed lunches generally consisted of a ham, cheese or chicken sandwich, an apple or banana, a packet of crisps, a Cadbury's mini roll, a chocolate bar, a packet of sweets, a packet of raisins and a drink of apple juice, orange juice or water.

Cllr Cross, who is the deputy mayor of the High Peak, said: "A big thank you to Angie and Gill for working tirelessly to help make this happen. They both deserve a lot of credit. In addition, we’re deeply grateful for all the lovely feedback we have received from local families this service has helped."

The next Carmel children's packed lunch service is taking place on the first Wednesday of the summer holidays (28 July).
