The 83rd anniversary of 600 child evacuees arriving in Glossop by train from Lowestoft has been marked.
All the children were found homes in the Glossop area and most remained with their host families for the duration of the war, some even stayed on afterwards and made Glossop their permanent home.
Friends of Glossop Station has continued to celebrate this remarkable event with a plaque and an interpretative display at the station.
Recently, Alma Mingay - one of the original evacuees with her son Steve - visited Glossop for a few days to visit friends and family.
Neil Williams, from Friends of Glossop Station, welcomed Alma and Steve to the station for a tour and chat.
Neil said that Alma, now 89, has a very clear and fond recollections of her time in Glossop.
On Saturday, a reunion event was held at Lowestoft Station for the evacuees organised by Martin Halliday, Community Rail Officer for the area.
The reunion was attended by Anglia TV, who filmed the event and interviewed the evacuees including Alma.
