Buxton Road, in the centre of Whaley Bridge, is now closed until the end of March to allow major bridge works to take place.
The £5.1 million Network Rail project will reconstruct and partially replace a Grade II listed railway bridge.
The road is closed between the junction with Forge Road and Whaley Bridge Uniting Church with diversions in place.
HGVs will be directed via the A5004 to Buxton, A6 to Bridgemont, and then A5004 back into Whaley Bridge and vice versa.
Several services operated by High Peak Buses have been changed as a result of the works, these include the 60, 61, 190 and 199 services.
The 61 service that runs between Glossop and Buxton will operate but the timetable will see services operate every 90 minutes due to the length of the diversion.
All details of the changes to bus services are available on the High Peak Buses website and social media pages.
