The A5004 Long Hill will be closed from Monday (25 April) as contractors working for Derbyshire County Council repair a landslip.
Signed diversions will be in place and the major route between Buxton and Whaley Bridge is expected to remain closed until 25 September, when the work is scheduled to finish.
The work will include digging down to bedrock, around 6 metres below the existing road level and putting in a reinforced earth retaining wall.
As a result of the closure High Peak Buses are changing the route of the 61 service between Glossop and Buxton. Instead of going along Long Hill it will travel non-stop along the A6 and B5470.
Work is also continuing on the A6 at Fairfield Common where contractors working for High Peak Borough Council are building a roundabout to provide access to housing sites.
Most of this work will be taking place at the side of the road, meaning that the A6 won’t be closed while the work on the A5004 takes place, however DCC have revealed this week that there will be three overnight closures in July, with dates and diversions to be confirmed nearer the time.
Derbyshire County Council has apologised for any inconvenience while this work takes place.
