A Men's Repair Shed is to open in New Mills starting from 4 February.
The new initiative was successfully piloted before Christmas at the new Rock Mill Centre in New Mills.
The Men's Repair Shed welcomes men over 18 to come together to create, make, and repair things utilising the tools at the Centre and offers support for men struggling with isolation or low mood through friendship, camaraderie, and occupation.
You don't have to be a DIY expert to join for the lad chat, a brew, and a biscuit or two.
Daniel Smith, from the Men’s Repair Shed project, said: “I have been keen to set something like this up as it is well documented how men struggle to access support for their mental health.
“I was very aware during the pilot how much it benefited me, being able to have a laugh and a joke with other men in a similar position to myself, and the feedback from those who attended was very positive.”
The Men's Repair Shed will be open from 4pm to 6pm every alternate Saturday from 4 February at the Rock Mill Centre, located behind the bus station, and there is no charge to join.
