More drivers advised by police about lockdown rules

Police responding to reports of possible lockdown breaches have left advice leaflets on 22 more vehicles.

PCSOs Brian Buller and Ann Morris from Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team attended Woodhead Cottages (Tunnel Top) off the A628 Woodhead Pass and the Torside Railway Cottages car park off the B6105 Woodhead Road on Monday afternoon (15 February).

They were following up on reports of parked and abandoned vehicles where people may be breaching the Covid-19 lockdown rules.

As a result, 22 vehicles across both locations received 'Did you need to drive here?' leaflets, giving drivers advice about the government guidelines surrounding travelling during lockdown.

It comes after they carried out similar patrols over the weekend to make sure people are following the Covid-19 lockdown rules.

Police are again reminding people of the government guidance to stay local to home for exercise and people who leave home without a reasonable excuse may be fined.
