More High Peak bus services to be restored

There are set to be more buses running in the High Peak from Monday 8 February.

High Peak Buses say its services will return to the levels of mid-January as of next week. 

It follows the withdrawal of some services from 27 January due to unexpected staff shortages caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Fellow bus companies Andrews of Tideswell, Hulleys of Baslow and D&G Buses stepped in, with support from Derbyshire County Council, to ensure that the 394 between Glossop and Stepping Hill Hospital, 442 between Buxton and Ashbourne, and the 58 between Buxton and Macclesfield services were able to continue running. 

It will come as welcome news to key and essential workers throughout the borough with no other means of travel.  

High Peak Buses have also announced that a maximum single flat fare of £2.20 will be in place on all services from 8 February to 12 February as a thank you to customers for bearing with them during the recent service disruption.

High Peak MP Robert Largan said: "There will still be some suspended services but I’m pleased that progress is being made.

"I’ll keep working with Derbyshire County Council and High Peak Buses to try and get back to full services as quickly as possible."
