Motorists warned about road closures on A628 and A57

Road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys if using the A628 Woodhead Pass and A57 near Mottram tonight (Wednesday 29 June). 

National Highways is to carry out road marking repairs between 10pm tonight and 6am tomorrow.  

The A628 will be closed in both directions between Flouch Roundabout and Woolley Lane, as will the A57 between the A6018 Back Moor Lane Junction and its junction with Hattersley Roundabout. 

Vehicles will be unable to: 

  • leave or join the A628 at its junctions with Windle Edge, Wedneshough and the A6024 and the B6105 at Woodhead Road; 
  • turn left from the A628 westbound carriageway on to the A57 Woolley Lane Junction; or 
  • turn left from the A57 eastbound carriageway on to the A6018 at Back Moor Junction. 

Laybys will also be closed. Clearly signed diversions will be in place.
