MP Robert Largan has invited residents and schools in the High Peak to visit Parliament, now that tours have restarted following the relaxing of coronavirus restrictions.

High Peak residents can book free tickets to watch debates in the House of Commons, including Prime Minister’s Questions, and tours of Parliament by contacting Mr Largan’s office.

Tours tailored specially for schools can be arranged through Parliament's dedicated Education Service. Schools are eligible for a subsidy to cover up to 75 per cent of travel costs, up to a maximum of £1,600 to make the trip affordable.

Before the pandemic, many schools in High Peak made annual trips to Westminster and Mr Largan says he's eager for this to continue.

The Conservative MP said: "I am pleased to report that Parliament has finally reopened to visitors and I am looking forward to welcoming local residents for tours of the Palace and to watch Prime Minister’s Questions.

“I am particularly keen that our young people have the opportunity to visit and see how our democracy works. I want to see more of High Peak’s schools visiting Parliament.

“I would encourage all schools in High Peak to make the most of the travel subsidies on offer. I hope to see you soon.”
