A Glossop head teacher has taken on an extended role after being appointed as executive headteacher across two schools.
Louisa Morris, the head teacher of St Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy, has become Executive Headteacher at the Glossop school and St Thomas More School in Buxton.
The move follows an Ofsted report that said the Buxton school needed improving in all four areas that were assessed. Both schools are part of the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust.
Kevin Gritton, CEO of the Trust, said: “Louisa Morris is an experienced senior leader who has built up a strong team at St Philip Howard and under their guidance the school has gone from strength to strength.
“The school is on an exciting journey, having been rated Good in all areas by Ofsted and more recently being selected as part of the Government’s School Rebuild programme.
“Mrs Morris is now Executive Headteacher at St Philip Howard and St Thomas More in Buxton, as both schools are part of the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust, and this is a common arrangement seen in many schools across the country.
“She shares her time across both schools and when she is at St Thomas More, St Philip Howard is being led by a very experienced team. There are also two new associate staff joining the team at St Philip Howard to provide additional capacity.
“Mrs Morris’s role as Executive Headteacher is a temporary arrangement and she will revert to being full time Headteacher at St Philip Howard as soon as practically possible.
“On a day to day basis, it is business as usual at St Philip Howard and the team there is ambitious to keep improving the school and is focused on ensuring that every child receives the very best education and care.”
