A campaign to protect one of the few green spaces in Gamesley that kids can play on is gathering pace with a new group set to be formed.
As we reported in June, the land on Melandra Castle Road, owned by High Peak Borough Council, is one of the sites earmarked in the local plan as a potential housing development site.
Residents strongly opposed to losing the green space are moving forward with their effort to try and protect it by getting it listed as a community asset.
With the help of Rev Nick Gurney, Vicar of Holy Trinity, Dinting Vale, they now have a plan to save Gamesley field.
But now they need to support of the community to be able to form an official unincorporated community group.
They need the signatures of 21 Gamesley residents to set the wheels in motion and are holding a community meeting on Thursday (16 September) at 11.30am at the Geoffrey Allen Centre.
The Save Gamesley Field Team are urging anyone opposed to the loss of the land to housing to attend the meeting.
"The church will provide refreshments, we ask residents to please tell your neighbours, friends and family about the meeting and invite them on the Facebook event or in person.”
