Pedestrians left surprised when a well-used crossing on High Street West in Glossop suddenly disappeared can look forward to a new up-to-date replacement being installed very soon.
A Derbyshire County Council spokesperson told the Chronicle: “The original crossing was installed in April 1999 and had reached the end of its operational life, so it was decided to replace it with a new one.
“The new Puffin-style crossing will include LED and extra low voltage equipment, and therefore will be more efficient and economical to run and maintain.
“We will be on site later this week testing the equipment and hope to switch it on by the end of the week or early next week at the latest.”
