Padfield councillor Ollie Cross has stepped up from his role as Deputy Mayor to take over from Paul Hardy as the new Mayor of the High Peak.
Cllr Cross has chosen Hummingbird Hub, Glossopdale Foodbank and High Peak Community Arts for his charities as he begins his mayoral year for 2022-23.
He said: "I am hoping to perform my Mayoral duties to the best of my ability and also want to raise as much money as possible for my supported charities."
Ollie and his wife Gill, who is the new Mayoress of the High Peak, run their own food bank called 'Bellies not Bins' from Carmel Church on Station Road in Hadfield.
He said: “Gill is a brilliant life partner to have. I’ve already warned her what to expect, but she’s already so involved with the local community that the responsibility won’t faze her. I’ve had so much support from the local community and my fellow councillors.”
Cllr Cross added: “Paul and Mary Hardy both did a superb job during their Mayoral year, with them taking on more than 110 engagements over the 12 months.
“I’ve now resigned myself to buying Gill a new wardrobe of clothes and shoes!”
Cllr Cross is one of the youngest Mayors ever in High Peak – he turns 29 later this month.
