New service to support domestic abuse victims

A new service is launching across Derbyshire today (Wednesday) to support victims of domestic abuse.

Crossroads Derbyshire is working with two other specialist providers - alongside Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa - to provide support to anyone who is experiencing abuse.

Never has that been more urgent than during the current coronavirus situation. 

Through this partnership, anyone who is affected by domestic abuse can get in touch with a dedicated team in one of the following ways:

Crossroads Derbyshire said in a statement: "Whatever way is best for you, just know that the person on the other end is there to support and help you in any way they can. Just remember to always let us know when it is safe for us to contact you and help is always available to those that need it."

Domestic abuse encompasses one or more of the following: sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, psychological abuse and financial/economic abuse. It involves controlling and coercive behaviour and it rarely happens just once – such abuse tends to worsen and occur more frequently over time.
