Gamesley was a lot smaller than it is now but residents were big on celebrating.
Seventy-five years ago, the annual Rose Queen Festival started with a huge parade all the way from Glossop town centre.
Led by Glossop Military Band and packed with floats and visiting royalty, it headed for the recreation ground on Glossop Road where there was plenty to see and do.
Enjoying the day and her journey in a sports car was Rose Queen Elect Barbara Wainwright, 13, who was crowned in front of hundreds of people.
The field was full of flower girls and boys, retinues and page boys, roundabouts, dance groups, pony rides and much more.
There were races for children, a prettiest ankle competition for the ladies, more military music and an afternoon tea.
Gamesley certainly knew how to celebrate!
