Our very own wildlife correspondent Sean Wood was on hand to come to the 'festive' rescue when he spotted an injured deer.
He was out walking at the weekend when he spotted the afflicted animal.
“She was caught up in undergrowth, exhausted, and very shocked. She had an injury on her leg which was consistent with a snare,” said Sean.
“But the wound, probably a couple of days old, was in fact healing, and after checking her all over, there were no obvious signs of injury.
“I lifted her up on all fours and she seemed to pick up and steady herself before making off, somewhat gingerly, into the woods.
“We retraced our steps half an hour later and there was no sign of her, so fingers crossed.”
Sean is not revealing the ‘secret location’ of the local woods in the hope the deer will be left quietly to make a speedy recovery.
