
After a 12-month term as Mayor and Mayoress of High Peak, Councillor Ollie Cross and his wife Gill, who has herself become a councillor, have been thanked for their efforts.
Speaking at the Annual Meeting of High Peak Borough Council, the leader of the council Anthony Mckeown said: “Councillor Cross has been a wonderful servant to the borough.
“He started the year and finished the year with the festivities at Hayfield May Queen. During his time in office, he has attended over 120 functions on behalf of the people of High Peak.
"The engagements have included school fairs, carnivals, community events and even a Buckingham Place Garden Party."
Councillor Ed Siddall said: “Ollie has been a fantastic mayor,” adding “he has done an amazing job.”
Conservative Councillor Linda Grooby also gave her thanks to both the Mayor and Mayoress.
Councillor Cross said: “I’d like to say it has been an honour and privilege.”
He thanked those who had helped and supported him and his wife Gill who he gave particular thanks to, along with their family, for their advice, love, and support.
