Padfield speed watch catches three drivers speeding

Volunteers helped police keep tabs on drivers speeding on Padfield Main Road yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).

Hadfield's Safer Neighbourhood Team, with the help of members of the public, completed a Community Speed Watch event in the village between 3pm and 4pm.

Around 130 vehicles passed the team during the course of the hour.

With the speed limit on that stretch of road being 40mph, only three vehicles were recorded driving at speeds above 41mph - with one of those driving at 48mph.

Hadfield SNT said the driver of that vehicle will receive a letter of advice about speeding from police.

The team added in a statement: "The two volunteers were thanked by members of the community for their efforts to slow down traffic - particularly those pedestrians using the road to and from Padfield and Hadfield - including to and from Padfield School.

"There isn't a footpath on this stretch of road, so we ask that all visitors and local people who drive and use this road to keep to the speed limit, to respect others - particularly pedestrians, to watch your speed and slow down."
