Parents are urged to get their child car seats checked by experts at two free events being held in the High Peak.

Derbyshire County Council road safety officers and a car seat fitting expert will be on hand to offer safety advice and information at supermarkets in New Mills and Buxton.

On 8 August, they will be at the Co-op in New Mills from 10am – 12.30pm and then from 1.30pm – 4pm. They will be at Morrison’s Buxton from 10am to 2pm on 31 August.

DCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways Assets and Transport Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal said: “These free checks take only a few minutes, but those few minutes could save your child’s life.”

Motorists will be offered checks to make sure their child’s car seats are fitted correctly and appropriate for the child’s age and height and the make and model of the car. Seats can be checked without the child present.
