Patsy Scoops A Hat-Trick

Glossop Golf Club’s Patsy Wood has come to the fore in recent weeks having secured a hat-trick of prestigious victories.

Her first win came in the club’s Spring Cup where she shot a 71, six strokes clear of her nearest rival, June Sidebottom.

She followed this up by partnering Kim Hartshorne to victory with a stableford score of 39 points in the Mottram Hall Ladies’ Open where they not only took the honours, but Patsy also won the longest drive competition.

As if that wasn’t enough, Patsy took the honours at the turn of the month in the Marion Sidebottom Memorial Trophy when she led the way by three shots from Nicki Spacey in second place, followed by Kim Hartshorne in third position, a further two shots behind.

l In the men’s section, Luke Siddall, Dan Ashton, Danny Birkhead and Ted Hartshorne won a Texas Scramble with a score of 49.2, with the runners-up spot going to Lee Chapman, Mick Leech, Dave Jones and Alex Clayton on 51.

l The Sidebottom Cup went to Graham Coupe of division two who finished Three Up against the course, one shot ahead of Ian Walmsley and John Handforth, respectively, who were separated after a card play-off.

l In division one, Dan Ashton took the honours, finishing level, ahead of second-placed Carl Chester and Dean Mitchell in third.

l A long-standing tradition of the club saw the senior section recently involved in its annual ‘Devon Tour’, the venue this year being Lytham St Anne’s!

After four days of hard-fought competition, Nick Minns proved victorious following a card play-off.

Second spot, and winner of the over 70s’ Super Seniors’ Cup, went to Dave Townend, and third place was clinched by Stuart Crymble.
