The ruins of Errwood Hall in the Goyt Valley are to be digitally brought back to life through a new app after a successful fundraising appeal.
Thanks to generous donations to the Peak District National Park Foundation’s The Big Give Christmas Challenge it reached its target.
In just one week, over £1,500 was donated by members of the public, then matched by The Outdoor Guide Foundation’s generous pledge. A substantial donation was also made by James Butler.
He made the donation because of happy memories of spending time there with his grandparents, Arthur and Josephine Butler, of Whaley Bridge, and his parents, Hilary and Tony Butler, of Buxton.
Claire Barlow from the Peak District National Park Foundation, said: “Thank you to everyone who has donated, and to the partners and businesses who have supported the campaign.
“This is a very exciting project to be part of and we look forward to launching the app in 2022.”
The app will help visitors, local school children and virtual visitors from around the world to see the ruins of Errwood Hall, a once magnificent Victorian country home digitally restored to their former glory.
