Police issue statement following death of woman

Police Incident on Pennine Road, Simmondley

Police have issued a statement after part of Pennine Road in Simmondley was closed early on the morning of Friday March 28.

They were called to reports of a concern for the welfare of an elderly woman at just after 5.45am.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the lady was pronounced dead. There were no suspicious circumstances.

Family members have been notified and are being support by officers. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

Pennine Road has since been fully reopened.
