Operation Spellbound has been launched in the High Peak.
The operation has been created with the purpose of tackling the supply of a prescription drug ‘Xanax’ to children under the age of 16.
Over the last few weeks, police have seen an increase in people taking this alongside other substances and alcohol. This has often hospitalised those who took the drug.
Over the next few weeks, officers will be looking at targeting any suspects who are linked to supplying this.
Derbyshire’s youth engagement team, alongside officers from the safer neighbourhood team, will be looking at doing engagement events for children and families around education about drug misuse.
Derbyshire Police encourage any person who has information regarding this to get in touch via 101 or report it via Crimestoppers. Any intelligence received will be treated with anonymity.
