Police speak to teachers about knife crime

Police have been to Chapel High School to have positive talks with staff about educating children about knife crime. 

PCSO Karen Green, from Buxton Police Safer Neighbourhood Team, paid a visit to the Long Lane school last week as part of Operation Spectre - to reduce knife crime in Derbyshire. 

Buxton Police SNT said: "The work we complete throughout the year with Project Zao is a mixture of education, enforcement and prevention.

"This action is educational, reminding schools of their legal obligations in terms of reporting young people who maybe involved with Knife crime.

"Thank you to the lovely staff at Chapel High School for engaging with us, enabling both partnerships to work together and combat this issue." 

Officers have also issued a reminder to local shopkeepers that it's illegal to sell a knife to anyone under the age of 18.
