Escalating incidents of anti-social behaviour in Hadfield have seen increased police patrols targeting a group of young people.
Incidents of assault, criminal damage, running out in front of moving vehicles and throwing items at moving vehicles have all been reported and are currently being investigated.
Police say there is a group of around 15 young people, both male and female, believed to be between 11 and 16 years of age, and enquiries are ongoing to establish their involvement in these incidents.
Officers will be visiting the addresses of those named and will be speaking with parents and the young people involved.
Parents are being urged to speak with their children to see where they are and make sure that when they are reading about ASB on social media it is not their child they are reading about.
The local policing team will be speaking with the local councillors, High Peak Borough Council, and other partners in an attempt to stop this anti-social behaviour.
Appeals for information have been made and the most recent spate of incidents include:
- A compressor and pipework were damaged at the rear of retail premises on Station Rd overnight between Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 July and again during the evening of Friday 30 July.
- A gas meter box and post box in the same location were damaged, between 8pm and 8.40pm on Friday 30 July.
- At St Andrews Church, on Church Street, there have been reports of young people climbing on the building, shouting and being abusive when challenged.
- And in the early hours of Sunday morning in nearby Woolley Bridge two young people riding on scooters have been causing issues near the Old Travis Perkins site on the A57. CCTV footage shows the behaviour is inconsiderate and is dangerous both to them and other road users.
