Quarry supports floral displays

Mike Chantler, Chairman of Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council with Hayden Gill, Production Manager at Cemex underneath one of the hanging baskets on the A6 at Dove Holes.

Anyone travelling on the A6 this summer will have spotted one of the hanging baskets bringing colour to more than a mile long-stretch through Dove Holes.

It is thanks to support from Cemex, who generously made a grant to Chapel Parish Council to help fund the floral displays.

The funding was agreed last year but restrictions meant the displays could not be out in place and the firm agreed to roll over the grant to this year.

Hayden Gill, Production manager at Cemex, said: “We are very much a part of the community here in Dove Holes and the surrounding area.

“The pandemic has been difficult for all of us, we’re glad to see these beautiful flowers now brightening up the village and we are glad that we could help.

“We also support local community projects with volunteer days and really appreciate all the support we have locally.”
