Repairs are being carried out on the historic Shallcross Incline in Whaley Bridge after damage was caused by heavy rain.
The repairs to the 600-metre greenway are being carried out by Derbyshire County Council and will see a more durable surface put down with improved drainage.
The route, used by walkers, cyclists, horse riders and mobility scooters, runs between Shallcross Road and Shallcross Mill Road and forms part of the former Cromford and High Peak Railway.
During key stages of the works temporary closures will be needed, DCC have said they aim to keep them to a minimum.
