Residents warned of two major road closures

The Snake Pass (left) and Park Road in Hadfield.

People are being warned of two forthcoming road closures which High Peak MP Robert Largan says will 'seriously impact local residents'.

In October, Derbyshire County Council will be temporarily closing Park Road in Hadfield, as well as the Snake Pass.

Both closures start on Monday 4 October, with the Snake Pass scheduled to reopen on Saturday 16 October, and Park Road not due to reopen until Saturday 4 December.

The county council is closing the Snake Pass for 'maintenance work and structural investigations', with Park Road being closed for repairs to the railway bridge.

Although diversions will be in place, the MP says he's concerned about the impact of the closures on the local road network around Glossop - especially on the already busy main road through Tintwistle.

He commented: "I'm very worried about the effects these two closures will have on local residents in Glossop, Hadfield and Tintwistle.

"The Snake Pass being closed for two weeks could seriously increase traffic through Tintwistle, as well as causing major disruption to residents who travel to work in Sheffield.

"In addition, closing Park Road for two whole months will seriously impact local residents in Hadfield and cause extra traffic through Padfield.

"I hope that by passing on this vital information now, residents have time to adjust their travel plans and work out alternative routes.

"I am also calling on Derbyshire County Council to do everything they can to complete the works ahead of schedule, so that residents are inconvenienced as little as possible."
