Our latest round-up of planning applications in the borough includes details of plans to remove signage and ATMs at two bank branches.

A number of planning applications have been submitted to High Peak Borough Council, which include: 

• Proposed single storey rear extension  at 63 Hurst Crescent, Glossop 
• Single storey side and rear extensions and alterations to front porch at 23 Longmeade Drive, Chapel-en-le-Frith 
• Division of existing industrial premises into 3no. dwellings to ground and first floors (including new first floor to former chapel area) Northern Glass Works Ltd, Manor Park Road, Glossop 
• Free standing sign advertising a housing development Barratt Homes temporary sales area for Midshires Meadow housing development, off, Linglongs Road, Whaley Bridge 

Plans approved 

Plans that have been given the go ahead and approved by High Peak Borough Council include: 

• Single storey side extension at 29, Turnlee Drive, Glossop 
• New porch and boundary wall at The Old Post Office, New Road, Buxworth 
• Re-roof property replacing stone slates with natural blue/grey slates at Hardcastle Mews, Terrace Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith 
• Externally illuminated Costa Coffee sign at Next Retail, Wren Nest Retail, Glossop Brook Road, Glossop 
• Retrospective permission for air conditioning condenser units fitted to the rear of 26 Market Street, New Mills 

   

NatWest closure works 

Planning applications have been submitted to remove all signage and the ATMs at two bank branches that are closing. 

As we reported in October, NatWest are to close the last two branches they operate in the High Peak. The Buxton branch on Spring Gardens will close on 14 February and the Glossop branch on Norfolk Square will close on 2 March. 

The bank is asking permission to carry out work at each location to remove all trace of the banking operations. They intend to remove fixtures, fittings, racking, IT equipment, furniture, and equipment. 

All signage will be removed, and the work will be carried out to make repairs to the exterior of the buildings once the ATMs have been removed. The night safes will be removed, and the lids sealed, and the letterboxes will also be sealed shut.
