Hotel plans rejected
Proposals to demolish a hotel in Buxton and replace it with a 95-bed hotel have been refused by High Peak Borough Council.
The application for the Buckingham Hotel on Burlington Road included three basement floors to house car parking and a number of rooms.
The plans were rejected as they would be harmful as the demolition of the building would be harmful to the character and appearance of the Buxton Central Conservation Area and the setting of the Grade II* listed Pavilion Gardens.
In the decision it was stated that the applicant had failed to demonstrate that the existing building could not be refurbished or extended.
All of the plans are available to view on the council’s website at www.highpeak.gov.uk
