Another Peak District National Park beauty spot is being turned into a tip and this time it could have been caused by an illegal rave.
The mess was discovered on Thursday last week by a Charlesworth man who has been enjoying walking in the open countryside for more than 20 years.
Preferring to be known only as Keith, he said: “While out on a walk down the Ashop river valley by the side of the river in the woods not far from the Snake Inn, I came across an excessive pile of litter.
“It looks like some people have been camping or having a party.
“I found a sleeping bag, gazebo shelter and loads of empty and part used beer cans.
“There were wine bottles and food cartons, foil containers and, worse still, gas capsules obviously used for getting high.”
He added: “I think this sort of behaviour in the National Park is disgusting and not acceptable in today’s society.
“I hope the people involved see this and they may feel totally ashamed.
“I have seen throughout this pandemic more of our precious High Peak blighted in this way. This has to stop.”
