Runners returned in force for the first Cracken Edge Fell Race since 2019.
The seven-mile challenge is a major annual fundraising event for the Kinder Mountain Rescue Team.
Organisers expected that race entry numbers would be lower than in 2019 but it was a nice surprise for them to see 143 runners lining up at the start of the race last Wednesday (10 August).
Under blue skies and very warm evening sunshine, all the runners made it back without incident ready for the prize giving at The George Hotel in Hayfield.
Chris Phillips of Saddleworth Running Club came home in first place, closely followed by Mark Burton of Calder Valley Fell Runners and Elinor Kirk was the first woman home.
At the presentation, over 20 prizes were awarded to individual runners, with the team prize going to Pennine Fell Runners and the Ladies team prize awarded to Glossopdale Harriers.
The Mountain Rescue Team prize was retained for another year by Glossop Mountain Rescue Team.
Kinder MRT would like to thank all the runners and particularly the many friends and family that helped to organise and marshal the event.
