A running club based in Hadfield has set up a new juniors division.
Start2Jog Juniors is a new division of the already well established Start2Jog Running Club.
The club is an England Athletics Affiliated Club, with members from 12-75 years old.
This year the club’s charity is Glossop Mountain Rescue Team and through running various events, they have managed to raise in excess of £1,200 so far.
The junior section of the club - for 12 to 18 year olds - is relatively new but is growing from strength to strength. They are fully inclusive and cater for all levels of running within the group.
Junior Coach Jo Mohan said: “It’s our hope that we can encourage young people with an interest in sport/running, to get themselves away from their screens and out into the fresh air doing some exercise. The sessions are fun but structured and run by experienced DBS checked coaches that all have a passion for running and inspiring others to take up the sport.
"Within the sessions, nobody is forced to do anything they are not comfortable with but at the same time, we encourage them to push themselves out of their comfort zones and when they do, they are so glad they did.
"We offer members the chance to train at the Regional Athletics Arena at the Etihad campus once a month, run regular club championship events and hope to participate in the Manchester Cross Country League when the season starts in October. There is a minimal membership fee to cover the cost of affiliation to England Athletics. Members get to try the club out before they join fully as we offer three taster sessions before they decide if they would like to join us."
Start2Jog Juniors is the only junior running club in Glossopdale.
