Santa suits at the ready for this year's Jingle Bell Jog

This year’s Jingle Bell Jog will return on Sunday December 1, with funds raised going to the Blythe House Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

The run – in which everybody dresses in Santa costumes - will take place in Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens, with a choice of either the full 5k circuit for adults or a 700m fun run for under-12s.

It costs £10 for early bird entry to the adults’ race, or £15 after October 31, with registration for the kids’ run being £5.

The fee covers entry to the event, your Father Christmas suit, a medal for everybody who crosses the finishing line, entertainment on the day, as well as a donation to the hospice.

Registration opens at 9:45am, a warm-up session of ‘Santa-cise' begins at 10:30am, the 700m race starts at 10:45, with the main event following at 11am.

“Blythe House Hospice provides care and support to those in our community who are affected by life-limiting illnesses including cancer, lung conditions, heart failure and progressive neurological conditions,” a statement from the hospice said.

“The hospice operates a 24/7 Hospice at Home service for patients in their last 12 months of life, and an overnight Roaming Car service for patients who find themselves with an urgent need.”

The run begins opposite the bandstand on the Pavilion Gardens promenade, before weaving through footpaths throughout the park.
