A Simmondley couple are once again opening their garden to the public to raise money for charity.
Peter and Christina Harris, who live at 27 Storthmeadow Road, will be opening their garden for the National Garden Scheme on Sunday 26 June from midday to 4pm.
They have been opening their garden for 15 years and have raised over £18,000 for charity to date.
As well as the garden, which includes different areas designed to attract wildlife, alpine and gravel beds, vegetable garden and water features, there are also lovely views of the fields and hills.
There will be refreshments, craft stall, children’s garden quiz and lucky dip.
The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Guernsey, and raises impressive amounts of money for some of the UK's best-loved nursing and health charities through admissions, teas and cake.
So far, more than £63 million has been donated to charity. Founded in 1927 to support district nurses, the scheme now the most significant charitable funder of nursing in the UK and beneficiaries include Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute.
