The Patient Participation Group at Simmondley Medical Practice say they were delighted with the amount of money raised at their latest annual Christmas Raffle.
Prizes had been provided by patients of the practice, and this year two Christmas Hampers were generously donated by the Medical Practice.
PPG members wish to thank everyone who purchased raffle tickets.
Proceeds amounted to £175, which was presented to their chosen local cause – Glossop Talking Newspaper, which has been running now for nearly 35 years.
This is a vital free service which delivers weekly, the local news taken from the Glossop Chronicle, on a USB stick, to the homes of blind and partially sighted listeners in the Glossopdale area.
Recently this service has been extended to include lonely and socially isolated listeners, so everyone is now able to listen to weekly news and chat via the Glossop talking Newspaper website, or on Alexa.
Future plans include an occasional magazine edition to include interviews and stories from the area. Many existing listeners comment that it’s like a friend popping in for a chat.
If you know of anyone who would like to receive the USB recording, contact The Bureau at Bank House, 22 Henry Street, Glossop, SK13 8BW.
