Sleeping Beauty will be the 2023 pantomime at New Mills Art Theatre

Your chance to step into Panto Land at New Mils Art Theatre starts next week, as preparations for the 2023 production of Sleeping Beauty begin.

A get together is being held at the Jodrell Street theatre on Monday 5 September at 7.30pm for people to find out more and meet the production team - led by Director Sheryl Haydock-Howorth, Choreographer Cathryn Yates and Musical Director Claire Sweeney.

The team will talk about the story of Sleeping Beauty, characters, music, choreography and will answer any questions. Auditions will be held later in September and the dates will be announced at the get together.

Sleeping Beauty will run over two weekends with performances on 3rd, 4th, 5th, 10th and 11th February 2023.

If you fancy auditioning for a principal part, there are plenty to choose from: King Cactus and Queen Marigold, Princess Rose and Prince Alexis, panto dame Nurse Hettie Harpic, daft comedy duo Fetch and Carrie, Bad Witch Hazel and her assistant Egor – and good magic provided by Good Fairy Lilac and her five trainee rainbow fairies!

A strong ensemble of chorus and dancers is also needed, to include adults and children.

Anyone who would like more information or is unable to attend the get together, a friend or family member can register for you or you can contact the theatre on 07983 344 862 or email friendsofthearttheatre@gmail.com

If performing is not for you, but you would like to be part of the production, you can still go along to the get together or contact the theatre as above. There are opportunities to be part of the stage crew, technical or front of house teams who are all volunteers.
