A consultation on proposals that could see the major changes in the way support services are delivered to people with learning difficulties and/or who are autistic closes on Sunday (19 June).
Derbyshire County Council, which currently has 12 day centres, is looking to redesign services and move away from building-based services.
Under the options put forward, the council could close eight centres and instead support people to lead independent lives and explore alternative opportunities within their local communities.
Councillor Natalie Hoy, DCC’s Cabinet Member for Adult Care, said: “For too long we have been delivering a one-size-fits-all approach, but we are all different and need different things at different times which is why we are looking to transform the support we offer.”
