Nearly half a million people across Derbyshire have received their first Covid-19 vaccination but, for anyone struggling to attend their appointment, help is available.
If you don’t own a car, and can’t use public transport, then local Active Transport providers can offer door to door transport to and from vaccination appointments.
There is usually a charge for the service, which varies depending on how far you travel, but anyone in financial hardship may be eligible for free transport if they or their partner are in receipt of any of the following benefits.
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Working Tax Credit (WTC) with Child Tax Credit (CTC)
- WTC with a disability element or a severe disability element
- CTC but you're not eligible for WTC
- Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
- Universal Credit

DCC’s Cabinet Member for Health and Communities Councillor Carol Hart said: “The vaccinations are a huge step forward in our fight against coronavirus and it’s vital that as many people as possible take up their invitation.
“We’re doing really well in Derbyshire with over 477,000 people already having had at least one dose of the vaccine while more than 204,000 people have received both doses.
“But there’s still work to be done. We want to make it as easy as possible for our residents to get to appointments in order to protect themselves and the ones they love.”
In the High Peak, The Bureau in Glossop, New Mills Volunteer Centre, Connex Community Support in Buxton, and Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport have helped to transport hundreds of people to Covid-19 vaccinations so far in 2021.
