A number of High Peak roads are to be stone chipped as part of £6.3 million works unveiled by Derbyshire County Council.
During May and June, contractors Kier will carry out surface dressing on 80 roads across the county.
These include Henry Street and High Street West, Glossop; A57 Snake Road, Bamford; Marple Road, Chisworth; Bankbottom and Wesley Street, Hadfield, and Crossgate Lane in Tintwistle.
Stretches of the A6 at Dove Holes and New Mills, Furness Vale and Bridgmont are also included - along with Sheffield Road in Chapel-en-le-Frith.
Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways Assets and Transport, said: “Surface dressing helps to extend the life of a road surface and helps to prevent potholes."
To make work more efficient, the jobs have been grouped together so that all those in an area are carried out at around the same time.
Some roads will be closed and diversions put in place, while others will be closed one side at a time under ‘stop and go’ boards.
Around two weeks before each job is carried out, yellow signs will be put up on each of the roads included in the scheme.
Cllr Athwal said: “I’d like to thank residents and visitors to the county in advance for their patience and understanding while these improvement works take place.”
