Taking to the streets of 'Bethlehem'

With organiser and narrator Kathy Holmes leading the way, the pre-school age youngsters saw the most famous story ever told being re-enacted.

They walked behind Mary, seated on a donkey, with Joseph at her side, looking for a place where Jesus would be born.

Just as it says in the Bible, there was no room at the inn, which in Charlesworth’s case, turned out to be The Village Club in Marple Road.

There was no room at the other buildings either where Joseph rapped on the door with his stick.

But help was at hand just around the corner past the wool shop - a real live stable with a manger and lots of hay.

While waiting in the wings were shepherds and The Three Wise Men.

Minutes later they walked into the stables followed by the children to see the newly born baby Jesus - the Christmas story had finally been told.
