The Bureau in Glossop has said goodbye to its Chief Officer Sophie Glinka this week, as she leaves to join the Voluntary Partnerships team at NHS England.
She leaves behind a legacy of progression and development at the community-focused charity, having overseen the growth and eventual move of The Bureau to its current premises on Henry Street.
The organisation is four times larger than it was when she first entered the role, enabling The Bureau to continue to develop further to provide higher quality voluntary services, including social prescribing and spearheading support to the local community during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Paying tribute to her work, Chief of the Board, Sue Nash, said: “Since Sophie took up the Chief Officer role, The Bureau has gone from strength to strength guided by her leadership and vision.
“There has always been a sense of inevitability that Sophie would be moving on at some point, such is her reputation within the sector.
“I personally have really enjoyed working with Sophie and as a Board we would like to express our gratitude to Sophie for the great work she has done as Chief Officer and wish her every success in her new venture.”
To ensure the smooth transition of leadership for the organisation, Damien Greenhalgh (pictured below) is stepping in as interim Chief Officer until the position is filled. The closing date for applications for the role is 27 September.
Sophie said she is sad to leave what she described as her 'wonderful colleagues, partners, and volunteers' but is also 'excited to be opening the next chapter of her career'.
She said: “It really has been a wonderful journey in a wonderful organisation which will continue to go from strength to strength under the guidance of Damien Greenhalgh as interim Chief Officer until we recruit to the post.
“The Bureau will continue to thrive, and there will be no day-to-day changes on the ground with either volunteering, or projects.”
