To help ensure the incredibly popular Lantern Procession can return as part of New Mills Festival, an appeal has been made to the local community.
Festival Co-ordinator Kate is calling on local people to get involved and start talking now about how to make sure it goes ahead.
She said: “There will be a Lantern Procession in 2023 but if it is going to be more than an eccentric lady and her dog walking a single lantern through the Torrs then I am going to need a lot of help.”
New Mills Festival organisers and volunteers need support from the local community, individuals, organisations, and local businesses to ensure it can go ahead in September.
Kate said the future of the lantern parade was in the community’s hands and she wants to hear people’s ideas. Over the next few months, she will also be attempting to visit as many local groups as possible.
Anyone who can help, wants to give their thoughts or is part of group would like a visit from Kate can email kate@newmillsfestival.co.uk or call or text 07726 774562.
