The gift of giving at Christmas

The families of pupils at St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Whitfield have once again generously donated food items to Glossopdale Foodbank.

During the season of Advent, the youngsters have been thinking about giving to others and not just receiving.

Head teacher Paul Ackers said he was particularly keen for the initiative to continue this year to support local families struggling during the festive period.

He was delighted the school has been able to reach out to the community in this way.

Meanwhile, Year 1 pupils have been making colourful Christingles with an orange to represent the world, a red ribbon to symbolise the love of Jesus, sweets for God’s creations and a candle representing Jesus’ light in the world bringing hope to people living in darkness.
