Derbyshire County Council's Cabinet have approved plans to invest a total of £58 million on roads and pavements between April this year and March 2023.
Hundreds of roads are included in the programme of works. Here, we take a closer look at the plans to pick out areas of the High Peak that are set to benefit.
In Glossopdale, work is expected to take place on both the carriageway and pavements on High Street West, while work to the carriageway will also be carried out on Henry Street in Glossop and Crossgate Lane in Tintwistle.
Glossop Road in Gamesley, Bankbottom and Station Road in Hadfield and the A57 Dinting Vale area also included in the list of carriageway works.
Across the wider High Peak, the A6 at New Mills, Furness Vale and Bridgemont is due to see carriageway works along with Sheffield Road in Chapel and the junction of Union Road and Hague Bar Road in New Mills.
On the A57 Trans Pennine Way and A624 at Hayfield, old traffic signal equipment will be replaced, to included LED and other technology to reduce delays, improve efficiency and reduce ongoing maintenance and energy costs.
While on Dinting Road, a controlled crossing facility is to be installed.
It is not just roads that the programme features work to repair bridges, improve cycle routes and for flood and drainage management.
The funding includes a contribution from DCC to work to be undertaken by Network Rail to further develop proposals to improve accessibility at Chinley station.
