We round up the latest news to come from Charlesworth Parish Council after its first meeting of 2022.

New councillor

A new councillor is set to join Charlesworth Parish Council.

At a meeting of the council last week, a decision to co-opt Simon Hurrell was passed unanimously.

Members are looking forward to welcoming him to the council and feel he should be a good addition to the team and brings with him a wealth of planning knowledge.

Footpath

Action is to be taken to remove a barrier and overgrown brambles from footpath 79 in Charlesworth.

The parish council’s attention was drawn to the issues around the path between Lee Head and Boggard Lane by a member of the public at their meeting last week.

Concerns were voiced that the blockage was leading to people sliding down the embankment.

Speedwatch group praised

A new speedwatch group in Charlesworth is doing a fantastic job, according to local councillors.

Member of Charlesworth Parish Council praised the group when discussing if there needs to be further speed survey carried out.

They agreed that as part of the speed watch group’s remit is to count the number of cars coming through the village and they are out and about regularly a further survey was not needed.

The Council is interested in finding out the cost of mobile speed cameras. Cllr Garry Robinson agreed to look into the costs and report back to the next meeting.
