Part of a footpath in the Goyt Valley has been closed due to the riverbank becoming ‘seriously eroded’ during the recent wintry weather.
The path, between the Torrs Hydro and the ‘Llama Farm’ in New Mills, closed earlier in the week, with a fallen tree also adding to the problem.
A spokesperson for New Mills Town Council said: “[An] alternative route is along Hyde Bank Road, cross The Queens Bridge and descend into The Torrs again using the entrance on the corner opposite The Co-op Supermarket.
“Barriers are in place on the footpath - please observe the closure.
“Options for making the pathway safe and usable again are being assessed as the pathway has been totally undermined. We will keep you informed of progress as [it is] made.”
Dogs Trust Manchester is raising awareness about why some dogs are trained to wear a muzzle, hoping to change perceptions and encourage more people to consider adopting one of the muzzled dogs patiently waiting for their forever homes.
