Tributes have been paid to David Bond, a former Glossop councillor and High Peak Mayor twice, who passed away recently.
He served as a councillor for the All Saints ward from 1991 to 2003, and was Mayor of the High Peak in 1995-1996 and again in 1999-2000.
During his time on High Peak Borough Council, he was Vice-Chair of the council's Community and Leisure Committee from 1995 to 1999; Chair of Policy, Personnel and Communications from 2000 to 2002; and Chair of the Standards Committee.
HPBC leader Anthony Mckeown said: “Dave was a truly dedicated public servant and I'm sure his loss will be felt keenly by family, friends and those that knew him.”
After moving away from the High Peak, David spent some time in France before returning to England and further public service, representing the Gainsborough East Ward on West Lindsay District Council from 2015 to 2019.
Former councillor Caitlin Bisknell said: “Dave was a great public servant and role model plus a lovely man to boot - a pioneer and in his own, quiet way a trailblazer and much missed family friend.”
Another former council colleague, Ellie Wilcox, said she had fond memories and described him as “a very funny and kind extrovert”.
Former Glossop Chronicle editor David Jones said: “Really sorry to hear the news about David. He was a very good councillor and served the borough well. He was also a lovely person and a good friend.”
