Two Glossop cubs earn highest award

Two cubs at Third Glossop have received the highest award possible, after being presented with the Silver Chief Scout Award.

Toby Susca and Alistair Bohan, from Third Glossop Cub Pack, based at Hope Street, were presented with the awards by Cub Leader, Dave Woodward, on Tuesday.

The silver award is the highest badge a cub scout can earn and takes over two years to complete.

It involves undertaking a series of challenges to develop and demonstrate skills, undertake adventurous and outdoor activities, lead a team and help others in the community. Toby and Alistair also spent a few nights on cub camp.

Alistair said: "I liked the camp the best, we could go anywhere on the campsite on our own and there were lots of things to do like zorbing and obstacle courses."

Cub meetings restarted in May after lockdown.

They happen every Tuesday in Manor Park in Glossop, rather than the Scout Hut, with the aim of being more Covid safe.
