Two more potentially life-saving defibrillators have been unveiled at The Surrey pub in Glossop and Padfield Congregational Church. 

Regulars at The Surrey on Victoria Street raised £520 towards the cost of the venue's defibrillator thanks to a range of fundraising events.

Landlord Leon David-Thomas Haynes said: "We held a huge raffle - thanks to everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets. 

"Our ladies darts team and dominoes league kindly donated £80 as their chosen charity of the season and thanks to Jason Arrowsmith for fitting the cabinet for free."

Speaking at the launch of the defibrillator outside Padfield Congregational Church, High Peak Mayor and Padfield borough councillor Ollie Cross said: “Thank you to Reverend Kathy Shaw and everyone connected to The Chapel for supporting this initiative with great enthusiasm. 

“Hopefully, it won’t be needed, but I'm pleased that the top end of Padfield now has a defibrillator, to compliment the one at the bottom of Platt Street, in case of an emergency."

Cllr Cross used funding from his Councillor Initiative Fund to pay for the defibrillator to be installed. 

Since it was set up in 2021, Glossopdale Community Defibs has raised more than £10,000 and helped to fund defibs and cabinets across the area. Further defibrillators are due to be unveiled very soon in Shirebrook and Gamesley.
